No Boundaries, Since 1846

Ulysse Nardin is an independent Swiss Maison disrupting Haute Horlogerie to advance watchmaking through pioneering technology and unmatched craftsmanship. Founded in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland, the Manufacture quickly became renowned for its precision timing instruments, critical to ocean exploration. Over five generations, the Nardin family produced the most reliable marine chronometers, trusted by leading navies and used by scientists in fields like geodesy, astronomy, and earth sciences.

Ulysse Nardin has led innovation in chronometry, in-house movements, and material R&D, accumulating over 4,300 technical and design awards. The Manufacture introduced groundbreaking pieces like the first chiming watch with Jacquemarts automatons, the Astrolabium Galileo Galilei, and the first perpetual calendar that could be set both forwards and backwards via the crown. Pioneering the use of silicon in horology, Ulysse Nardin also developed DiamonSil®, a revolutionary surface treatment.

The Freak, launched in 2001, epitomized Ulysse Nardin’s unique approach, combining high technology and craftsmanship. More than 20 years later, the Freak [ONE] was awarded the “Most Iconic Watch” prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

As part of the first collective of independent watchmaking manufactures, with its sister company Girard-Perregaux, Ulysse Nardin continues to push the boundaries of horology, redefining expectations for a storied heritage brand, with boutiques worldwide including flagships in Geneva, Silicon Valley, Dubai, and Shanghai.

FREAK ONE

The Freak ONE, the quintessence of the legendary Freak, is the proud recipient of the Iconic Watch Prize at the Grand Prix of Horology of Geneva.

The Freak ONE stands out as a disruptive, cutting-edge timepiece. With this addition to the unique Freak collection, Ulysse Nardin combines and highlights the most essential and celebrated designs and technological advances of the Freak over its 23-year history. The Freak ONE still adopts the model’s three iconic characteristics: no dial, no hands, and no crown.

 

FREAK S NOMAD

The Freak S Nomad testifies to Ulysse Nardin’s deep love of haute horlogerie, métiers d’art and the rare handcrafts and finishing techniques that define only the most exquisite luxury watches.

No element in the Freak S Nomad better illustrates this passion than the hour disc that sits behind the carousel ‘spaceship’ movement. It features a diamond guilloché pattern finished in sand-coloured CVD, a nod to waving sand dunes. Produced one piece at a time by a skilled artisan, the painstaking method behind it takes years to learn and perfect.

In watchmaking, progress is achieved through the fusion of the future and the past. Environmental & Social Responsibility

1% for the Planet

In 2002, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, created 1% for the Planet and started a global movement. Today, it’s an international non-profit organization whose mission to accelerate smart environmental giving and prevent greenwashing is supported by Ulysse Nardin who contributes at least one percent of their annual revenue to environmental causes to protect the environment.

One More Wave

Ulysse Nardin’s deep rooted connection to the U.S. Navy stems from 1905, when Ulysse Nardin won a competition to create the most precise marine chronometer and subsequently became the official supplier to the American Navy. One More Wave was founded by surfing Navy SEALs, their mission to help veterans through ocean therapy resonates strongly with Ulysse Nardin, which has long-standing ties to the sea.
